Frozen Pizza Cardboard Holiday DIY

With the holidays fast approaching, many of us are looking for inexpensive ways to spend quality time with loved ones. One of the most budget-friendly and creative ways to do this is to make a seasonal decoration with your family using frozen pizza cardboard! Learn how to transform a simple frozen pizza box into a unique, handmade decoration that will bring the holiday spirit into your home.

Supplies

2 Frozen Pizza Cardboard

1 Dollar tree Christmas Bag

1 Glue Gun

1 Holiday Scrap Book Paper

1 Circle Bead Strand from Dollar Tree

Cinnamon

Mod Podge

First step is to trace 1 cardboard on to the back of your scrap book paper.

Cut out the circle you made on the scrap book paper.

Mod Podge the back of the pizza box and the scrap book paper cut out.

Stick the Mod Podged Scrap book paper onto the cardboard

Next you will grab your gift bag and cut out a circle leaving about and inch border of your cardboard. If you find a gift bag similar to this one you can just cut around the greenery. This one fit perfect but you may have to improvise and select a gift bag that will fit this project.

Mod Podge the back of your bag cut out and stick it on the cardboard.

Mod Podge again over the front of the gift bag cut out covering all over the front of the gift bag and cardboard.

Once everything was completley covered I used my fingers to smooth out any of the bubbles. You will also push out the excess Mod Podge so you can take your brush and even it out again. I have found that this is the most beneficial way to get out the bubbles, so the sign lays flat with a smooth surface.

While your sign is still wet you will grab your cinnamon and sprinkle it around the edge of the sign to give it a cinnamon rusted look. This vintage looks ages the sign and gives it real character!

Again, while it is still wet you will put another coat of Mod Podge over the top of the cinnamon – this step is important to keep the cinnamon in place and darkens it a bit to give it the real rust look.

Let it completely dry……..

Once it is fully dry you will take your second cardboard and glue gun the back and stick it to the back of your sign.

This step was so important because the extra backing of the second pizza cardboard gave it structure. It is important to not stick them together in the first step and wait until this step to put it on because it made it straighter.

Once it is completely dry you are ready for the next step.

These beads are so cool! I glued the back of it to frame the circular edge of the “Holly Jolly Christmas: sign. You will still be able to see your accented scrap book paper with the cinnamon rusted. edge.

You are ready for your greenery! For this step I used some florals that I had at home. I knew I wanted a mix of holiday floral and something that went well so I mixed and matched from a couple sprigs I had and put them all together.

I played around with different pieces and once I decided on what looked best, I stuck them under the beads to hold them and glued them into place.

Final Step

I took a piece of twine and stapled it to the back of the cardboard tying it in a knot first to secure the twine into place. I also stuck a little dab of glue on the back of the cardboard to help secure it for hanging.

And you are finished and ready to hang it!

I love the way the floral turned out.

You can see up close the cinnamon rusting technique I used here. So vintage looking!

And I am hanging it now on one of my few French doors in my home.
