Gathering Materials

1 Dollar tree Styrofoam Pumpkin

3 Dollar Tree Packs Burlap Leaves (Red, Orange, Green)

2 Cinnamon Sticks

2 Dollar Tree Acorns

1 Pack Dollar tree Leather Words “Thankful”

1 Champagne Cork

Scraps of Fall Ribbon

Folk Art Real Brown Acrylic Paint

White Chalk Paint

Paint Brush/es

Black Sharpie

Decorating the Body

You will start with one coat of the Folk Art Real Brown paint all over the pumpkin. Let it dry and then add the second coat.

Once it is fully dry get a separate DRY brush and lightly brush on the edges of the pumpkin to give it a slight brush of white. This step will give the turkey a little character..

Add the feathers

Next you will grab your wired burlap leaves and stick them on the back side of the pumpkin working with all the colors to give them a nice array of colors for his feathers. I used all of the 3 packs because I wanted all the spaces filled in. Because the pumpkin is hollow this wire goes in the back pretty easy.

Time for the turkey head

You can use a champagne cork or prosecco cork for his head. You will just need one bit of glue from your glue gun to secure the head on. Then you will use your sharpie to draw the eyes. This will bring him to life a little!

Turkey Legs

I used 2 cinnamon sticks for this. My original plan was to have him standing but he was a little back heavy with the feathers, so he worked best sitting. I glued the cinnamon sticks on to the bottom of the pumpkin.

Turkey neck decor

I used just a few scraps of fall ribbon to tie around his neck to give him a little scarf or decoration around his neck. I then cut a little end piece of one of the red burlap leaves to use for his little gobble. I glued the little piece over the ribbons on his neck.

“Thankful” turkey touch

I still was feeling like he needed a little something extra, so I used one of these Dollar Tree leather words for his back. These words come in a 4 pack. 2 Blessed and 2 Thankful words. These were perfect for the turkey back because it was flexible enough to fit the curved part of his back. I found it easiest to glue the back of the base of the feathers and stuck the word on. Then you are ready to put him on your table or set him on an entry way so he can greet everyone coming in!

Crafting your own turkey from Dollar Tree is a simple, cost-effective way to make your holiday table stand out. With just a few easy steps, you can use products found at your local Dollar Tree to create a stunning centerpiece that will impress family and friends.
