Americana Fabric Flags DIY

Supplies

Variety of red, white & blue fabrics

Fabric glue

Ruler

Dowel rods or skewer sticks

You can use a variety of different fabrics of red white and blue. I would suggest picking up or ordering a few so you can make a variety of flags. They are just cuter in multiples. These are some of my favorite fabric choices here.

I took one of the fabrics and used it for the larger part of the flag. I cut this 4″ x 6″. You will want to double it so you have 2 sides.

Cut it out.

For the smaller part of the flag I cut this 2″ x 3″ – This will also be cut twice for each side.

Lay them out all together how they will go front and back.

Then you will grab your dowel rod or skewers for the flag pole.

You can use fabric glue or a glue gun to glue your pieces together. Fabric glue will take a bit longer but it will dry more flat. Glue gun glue will dry quicker but either will work.

Press together. You also have the option to sew together the ends of the flag but since I am not much of a seamstress, I usually prefer the gluing route.

Cut of any straggler threads and let them dry. Once they are dry you can find a cute vase, planter or food item to put them in.

I put mine in some cute glass bottles that you can order off of Amazon (see below for links) but there are so many other cute options on where to decorate with these adorable flags!
